About Me

“A strong woman looks a challenge dead in the eye and gives it a wink.” - Gina Carey

Why I Do This Work

At the age of 5, my life shifted when I moved from living with my birth family to foster care and later to adoption. During this time, my first-grade teacher, Mrs. Lusk, showed me what it means to be seen, cared for, and encouraged. Her kindness planted the seed for my passion for education, offering me support, inspiration, and introducing me to the transformative power of books at a time when I needed it most.

My journey wasn’t linear—I had children at a young age and initially followed a different career path. Yet, the desire to become a teacher, inspired by memories of Mrs. Lusk, never left me. In Texas, foster children are awarded a grant to attend college for free, and that opportunity, paired with my determination, allowed me to pursue higher education.

Returning to school to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies fulfilled my dream of becoming a teacher, marking some of the most rewarding days of my career.

A turning point in my teaching career came when I led a 1:1 iPad pilot program. Watching students engage with technology in ways that unlocked creativity and deeper learning inspired me to return to school and earn a Master of Arts in Global eLearning. This decision opened the door to roles that allowed me to merge education, technology, and design.

As a Digital Learning Coach for the Dynamic Learning Project—a partnership between Google, EdTechTeam, and Digital Promise—I worked alongside educators to meaningfully integrate technology into their teaching, enhancing student engagement and learning outcomes. During this time, I was fortunate to collaborate with incredible mentors, and becoming a Google Certified Innovator (LAX18) further solidified my drive to explore bold ideas and elevate learning experiences.

This passion for innovation led me to transition into roles as a Digital Learning Consultant and Instructional Designer, where I developed and implemented transformative learning solutions for educators. Now, as an AI Consultant, I focus on the future of education—creating tools, strategies, and experiences that connect people, inspire growth, and empower meaningful change.

The Future

Change has always been part of my story, and I embrace it wholeheartedly. Each step of my journey has taught me that education isn’t just about knowledge—it’s about fostering curiosity, connection, and personal growth. My passion for education, technology, and making a difference continues to shape my path forward.
